Autism and ADHD assessment child on parents back

Private Autism and ADHD assessments

What happens at the private Autism or ADHD assessment?

Our autism and ADHD assessments are held at our centres in Pinner, North London or Elstree, Hertfordshire. On the day of the assessment both parents/caregivers and child need to attend.

Two of our team members conduct the assessment. This will include a clinical psychologist and either an occupational therapist or speech and language therapist. The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) have registered all our team, and they all have a deep knowledge of special education needs (SEND).

We use gold standard tests for all our diagnostic assessments. The time may vary from 1.5 hours to 4 hours depending on the package you choose. Occasionally we may require a second appointment to complete any outstanding interviews e.g. if a child is unable to remain engaged during the assessment. We can arrange to do this online.

After the assessment, our full multi-disciplinary team meets to discuss their findings and conclude their outcomes and recommendations.

What happens after the private Autism or ADHD assessment?

We will discuss feedback with you after the assessment has taken place, and this may include a diagnosis.  The team will arrange a follow-up appointment after the assessment, and they will send you a thorough assessment report.

In some cases, our assessment does not lead to a diagnosis of ADHD, Autism or a cognitive learning difficulty, and we might find, for example, a speech and language delay. In this instance we would signpost families to local services and offer referral letters to support them.
